The first walk of 2022 with Evelyn : Rail Mall to Ghim Moh and back

The title basically sums up the walk. Now already more than 2 weeks at our studio at The Hillier, I am ever closer to Evelyn living at Eco Sanctuary.

The walk was planned on a dare on New Year's day. Monday morning 8am rv at Rail Mall to walk the rail corridor, we exclaimed.

3 Jan morning, Pat drove himself to work. First, to offload the lab trolley that was used for the 17th Dec 2021 move and second, my date with Eve was an early start for Pat. It would have given him an extra 30 min snooze time if he sends himself to work.

Eve has 'forgotten' the pact but I proceeded without her. It was not a school excursion so it was ok if she wants to catch up on the rail corridor or her sleep.

In any case, she drove to Rail Mall and played catch up. It was about 8.30am.

We literally strolled to Ghim Moh chatting about everything as usual. 9.45am and some 6km away from Hillier, we sat down in front of a famous duck noodle store. Thanks to the benevolent government, we used the CDC voucher and enjoyed brunch at the expense of the taxpayers.

The rice pudding that Eve wanted to eat from refused to sell her anything less than 4. 不可以吃玩玩 the spunky store lady told her. Eat or don't eat, no sampling portions.

We proceeded to the soya bean drink stall and had our stomach filled to bursting point with bean curd. We snooped around the marketplace digging up cheap cups, offering beauty advice to an aunty who could not decide which hair clip to buy and poked around a sundry shop.

Now at almost 11am,  I decided to march back. With lack of judgment, I did not visit the public toilet so the walk back was on an urgent allegro pace. It was almost mind over bladder.

12.5km later at rail mall, I took a ride back from Eve to Hillier. I cannot remember if I thanked her for the ride but the ride up 21 floors was the utmost thing on my mind.

Not bad for the first Monday of the year 2022.
